Meet our 2019 PILC Grant Recipients Working in Civil Rights and Constitutional Law

The Public Interest Law Committee (PILC) is a student-run organization that encourages public interest involvement and sponsors events such as the annual Party Books, Live Auction, Trivia Bowl, and etc  to raise grant money for public interest students.

We want to recognize those students and the incredible work they are doing with their Public Interest Law Committee Summer Grant. Meet our 2019 PILC Grant recipients working in Civil Rights and Constitutional law:

Angelica Martinez, 3L

Summer Placement: Equal Employment Opportunity Commission

"I work in public interest because I believe in eradicating oppression to help build better communities. Working at the  Equal Employment Opportunity Commission helps me do just that by ensuring people have access to attorneys when discriminated against in the workplace."

Harrison Kaplan, SCALE II

Summer Placement: Constitutional Rights Foundation

"I am passionate about our youth and allowing them the opportunity to see what the future holds. Kids are the next generation, and I believe it is important to instill in them the fundamentals of the Constitution and make sure they know what their rights are."

 

PILC Grants are available for continuing students who work in public interest during the summer. Applications are due in March. Awards up to $5,000. Email publicservice@swlaw.edu for more information.
