Southwestern's Black Law Students Association Recognizes Recent Alums for Their Achievements
Southwestern recognizes the importance of highlighting recent alums and celebrating their successes with our community. As Black History Month comes to an end, Southwestern's Black Law Students Association would like to recognize and highlight alums, Sherron Wiggins '17 and Charles Chineduh '10, for their achievements and success. They serve as role models and are mentors to BLSA students.
Sherron graduated in 2017 and was heavily involved during her time at Southwestern. She was a member of the Black Law Student Association, the Moot Court Honors program where she won Best Oralist at a national competition, and Law Review where she served as an editor and became a published author for her note related to patent law. She also loved to "pay it forward" by serving as a Dean's Fellow, Writing Fellow, and teaching assistant.
After passing the California bar on the first attempt, she became an associate attorney with a boutique IP firm in El Segundo where she prepares patent applications and litigates in all areas of IP. She credits Southwestern and its various programs for her continued success.

Charles Chineduh is an attorney at the law firm of Meserve, Mumper & Hughes LLP where he specializes in life, health, disability, ERISA, and insurance bad faith litigation. Charles has litigated matters in federal and state courts throughout California, including the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Charles has been recognized as a Southern California Super Lawyers "Rising Star" -- an honor that is limited to no more than 2.5% of attorneys within the state.
While at Southwestern, Charles was a recipient of the John J. Schumacher scholarship for all three years of attendance. He served as Research/Special Projects Editor for the Southwestern Journal of International Law. In that capacity, he, among other things, spearheaded the journal's hosting of a symposium on the future of the U.S. exclusionary rule which featured internationally renowned scholars and speakers from the United States, Canada, and Europe. Charles also served as co-president of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA)—where during his tenure, Southwestern's BLSA Chapter garnered several awards and accolades including being recognized as the regional and national Chapter of the Year for its community and civic involvement. Additionally, while at Southwestern, Charles worked as a judicial extern for the Hon. John Shepard Wiley, Jr. of the Los Angeles Superior Court (now a justice on the California Court of Appeal), and the Hon. Otis D. Wright II of the U.S. District Court, Central District of California.
