California State Authorization, BPPE Exemption, and Student Complaints

Southwestern Law School is exempt from approval by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) under California Education Code section 94874(i), based on its accreditation by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). BPPE verified Southwestern’s exemption on September 16, 2026. Southwestern maintains a state authorization agreement with BPPE under California Education Code section 94874.9 for BPPE to review and act on complaints concerning the institution, as provided in that agreement.
