BisonVote 2024: Empowering Your Voice in This Year's Election

Welcome to BisonVote, Southwestern Law School’s initiative to help students navigate the voting process and engage in this pivotal election year. Below, you'll find key resources and insights into candidates, voting logistics, ballot measures, and more to ensure you are informed and ready to vote!

Why Vote in 2024?

Voting is one of the most powerful tools for change and engagement in a democracy. In the 2024 elections, Californians will cast ballots on significant statewide races, crucial policy measures, and local issues that directly affect our communities. By voting, you help shape the future of California and beyond.

How Do I Vote?

 

 

In-person voting locations will be available to voters on Election Day. In-person voting locations will offer voter registration, replacement ballots, accessible voting machines, and language assistance to those who need it.

 

Find Your Polling Place

Pursuant to Executive Order N-64-20, all registered voters will be sent a vote-by-mail ballot for the November 3, 2020, General Election.  Registered voters do not have to apply for a vote-by-mail ballot for this election.

Voters in the state of California will automatically receive a Vote-by-Mail ballot as long as they are registered by October 19th.

How to return your Vote-by-Mail ballot

1. By Mail 

Make sure your ballot is postmarked by November 5, 2024.

2. In-Person

Drop your ballot off at a secure drop box, polling place, or county elections office by 8:00 p.m. on November 5, 2024.

* Anyone may return your ballot for you, as long as they do not get paid on a per ballot basis. In order for your ballot to be counted, you must fill out the authorization section found on the outside of your ballot envelope.

Here’s a summary of the California 2024 propositions:

  1. Prop 2: Authorizes $10 billion for K-12 and community college facilities.
  2. Prop 3: Reaffirms the right of same-sex marriage by updating state language.
  3. Prop 4: Issues $10 billion for climate response, including water and wildfire initiatives.
  4. Prop 5: Lowers voter approval thresholds for local affordable housing projects.
