This course is designed for students interested in availing themselves of California Evidence Law (especially those portions tested on the California Bar Exam), and learning the basic concepts of California Sentencing Law, with a special emphasis on the public policy issues that underlie the latter.

Students are taught California Evidence Law commonly tested on the California Bar Exam, including the way in which the California Evidence Code ("CEC") deals with Character evidence, Impeachment evidence, Hearsay Exceptions, as well as the public policies behind the same. In becoming familiar with the CEC in these areas, students will also have an opportunity to review the substantive concepts of Evidence Law.

Finally, students will be able to engage in mock-exercises involving California Evidence, as well as present to the class on a pre-approved topic related to California Sentencing.
