This course will offer students the opportunity to get first-hand experience researching and working with regulatory rules and regulations the context of legal practice. The course will cover both federal and California agency research. It will also explore statutory law in relation to administrative bodies. The course will delve deep into the complexities of agency decisions and guidance. Upon completion of this course, students will have gained an understanding of the basics of administrative law in addition to experience formulating efficient research methodologies. In this class, we will not be learning about substantive administrative law, but will learn how to research areas of law that are heavily regulated by agencies, such as immigration, tax, health, environmental, etc., as well as areas in a high state of flux, such as California cannabis law.

Students may (1) take up to 3 units total of advanced research courses, and (2) may not take both Advanced Legal Research and Practical Legal Research.
