Career Highlights

Professor Johnson is a founding partner of Actium LLP.  Throughout his legal career, he has represented Fortune 500 companies on their most critical matters.  He is widely known as an expert on legal ethics and electronic discovery.  He wrote the book (literally) on ediscovery; he is co-author of Electronic Discovery Practice Under the Federal Rules (BNA). He has also written several articles on ediscovery best practices, and he is a frequent speaker at ediscovery conferences and MCLE events.

After graduating first in his class from UC Hastings College of the Law, Professor Johnson clerked for the Hon. Arthur L. Alarcón of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.  He was then recruited to one of Los Angeles’ oldest and most prestigious law firms.  There, he handled complex litigation, white-collar matters, appeals, and electronic discovery.  Professor Johnson rapidly became one of the most sought-after experts on internal investigations and ediscovery.

Professor Johnson also worked in-house for one of California’s largest regulated utilities, where he litigated contract and real property disputes, conducted internal investigations, and practiced before the California Public Utilities Commission in regulatory proceedings.
