Career Highlights

Professor Federer is currently an attorney with Del Shaw Moonves Tanaka Finkelstein & Lezcano. Most recently, he served as the Senior Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs at Kinetic Content, which is a global producer of non-scripted content, including "Married At First Sight" and "Little Women: LA” for Lifetime, "The Taste" for ABC, and "Betty White’s Off Their Rockers" for NBC, among many others. In his role, Professor Federer was also a member of the senior executive management team and oversaw all HR and Corporate Legal matters. Prior to starting at Kinetic, he served as Senior Counsel and Managing Director, Business & Legal Affairs at GRB Entertainment. In his role at GRB, he was involved in development, production and distribution for all of GRB’s programming including the Emmy Award winning “Intervention” on A&E. He was also the head of GRB’s digital production and distribution division, as well as a producer on GRB’s first feature film “Bad Night”.

Prior to his role with GRB, Professor Federer worked in Business & Legal Affairs at Mark Burnett Productions, working on such shows as The Voice, Celebrity Apprentice, Survivor, and Shark Tank. He has also worked in Business & Legal Affairs departments at Universal Studios, Lionsgate Films, and Comedy Central. Prior to entertainment, Mitch began his legal career in civil litigation.

In addition to teaching Un-Scripted Television Production Law, Professor Federer is the current President of Southwestern’s Entertainment & Intellectual Property Alumni Association.
