Application Process and Requirements

To apply to Southwestern, all first-year applicants must:

  • Meet the requirements for undergraduate pre-legal education
  • Register with the Law School Admissions Council and subscribe to the Credential Assembly Service
  • Register for and take the Law School Admissions Test
    • NOTICE RE: LSAT ADMINISTRATIONS: In light of the June and July in-person LSAT cancellations, we would like to provide an update on the exams we accept for Fall 2020 admission. The Law School Admission Council (LSAC) has decided to administer an online, remotely-proctored version of the LSAT - called the LSAT-Flex during the week of June 14th and the week of July 12th. Assuming LSAC meets the score reporting deadlines, Southwestern may be able to consider scores from these exams, including the July LSAT-Flex administration, for admission into the three- and four-year programs (which begin August 12th).

Please note that we will accept July LSAT-Flex scores for consideration of admission into the three-year full-time program or four-year part-time programs depending on the timing of when those scores are released by LSAC. However, because scores from the June and July LSAT-Flex will be released after the start of the two-year accelerated program (SCALE), we cannot use those LSAT-Flex scores as consideration for that program.

  • Provide a complete application file
  • Pay the application fee
  • Meet any and all additional requirements related to the applicant’s desired program
  • Complete personal interviews as requested by the Admissions Office
