Real Estate Transactions: Housing Development From Start to Finish

This course presents students with an overview of real estate transactions associated with new development of housing. The course will especially emphasize transactions utilized in the development of affordable and workforce housing. The course will go through the typical transactions associated with a housing development, starting with the acquisition of a site for new construction. The course will explore the creation of the business venture which will develop the housing and the transactions related to designing and financing the new development. The course will provide students with an overview of the land use application process for new housing development as well as the leasing or sales process for newly-developed housing units. The course will expose students to transactions associated with recently-constructed units as well as projects currently in development.
